BEL's Astonishing Service Checker

BEL is proactive to the max when it comes to concern for our servers and the services they are running. Our automated service checker is a system administrator in a box -- indefatigable, caffeine free, running on pure electricity 24/7. Like a real trouble shooting system administrator, it connects to the port a service runs on and speaks the words the service wants to hear. The vast majority of the time the service responds with the words that are music to the service checker's ears, and all is harmonious in serverland. But every now and then a service or a machine may be troubled, it may not respond, or it may respond with words of horror and pain. Quick as lightening the service checker pages and text messages for human help. Ideally our expert human system administrators can solve the problem before any other humans have even noticed. Or failing that, by the time humans call for support, our system administrators are already on the problem and on the way to a solution.

Naturally customers of BEL's with shared hosting plans benefit from our concern for our servers, but colocation customers may benefit as well. The service checker is currently working on behalf of several of them.
